SAT: Stress and Trouble

Writer: Han Xuan ZhengHan Xuan Zheng

On August 28th, my day took a shift that day. After not receiving a score that met my expectations, I signed up for the August SAT to give it a final shot. The moment that I confirmed my date for testing, what also came along with was the responsibility of studying. At first, I found myself swarmed with responsibilities from before and those that are new additions. For me, my first reaction was to make a schedule, as a way to structure and organize my time. It came down that I would be studying for anywhere ranging from 4 to 8 hours a day from July all the way to testing week, and so I did.

Currently, it has been three days since the day. It feels like the waiting time after the test is more mentally exhausting than the time waiting for the test to arrive. I find myself anxiously scrolling through social media trying to distract myself but at the same time brainstorming all the possibilities of what could happen. Almost like I’m trying to rehearse my reaction.

Just as I responded to my problem of bearing a lot of responsibilities with a time schedule, I responded to my anxiousness by creating a list of activities I could do as I wait for the remaining ten days.

My list:

  • Games!

  • Chatting with friends

  • Revisiting old shows

  • Listening to new music

  • Writing blogs

  • Going out to take pictures

  • Continuing my college apps

  • Painting

What are some activities you do to take your mind off of overthinking? Let me know in the comments as I need more things to do while I am waiting.
