Chinese National Day

Writer: Han Xuan ZhengHan Xuan Zheng

October 1st. A day to celebrate the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949. It is also named the Golden Week, as it is known for the longest break people all across China go on all year.

During this special occasion, many people use the long break given to travel to different places within China and out. While many use this as a chance to visit their family in a different province, many also just celebrate locally by strolling through their neighborhoods and seeing the fireworks. It is a day where laughter and fireworks don't stop.

Being a Chinese American who lives far from my native country, though my family doesn't celebrate National Day like the people in Mainland, we can still feel all the excitement and joy that emits through our tiny screens.

It is not only a day for the people in China to celebrate the country but also a chance for Chinese Americans outside of China to celebrate their identities and origins.
