A Call From the Wild

Writer: Han Xuan ZhengHan Xuan Zheng

This past week I visited the Staten Island Zoo. Placing my first step in the zoo, the atmosphere felt different to me in the way that it felt more family-friendly. I’ve been to zoos from the city and out, while they are amazing in their architecture and showcase of animals, they always felt professional and like a business to me. However, with the Staten Island Zoo, it felt more cozy, small, and comforting while being able to showcase a series of rare animals I haven’t seen before.

Making my way deeper into the zoo, I stopped by a restaurant I saw in the zoo and had my lunch there. It was a typical American meal including a burger, hotdog, fries, and a drink. Simple but fulfilling and delicious.

I would recommend anyone to bring their family to the zoo or come by themselves. The staff and visitors here are really friendly and just looking for a good time. It was a remarkable experience.
