A week ago was the VMAs, a yearly celebration of visual arts through awarding those who exceeded in video production in relation to music. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, I wasn’t able to watch the show live and still haven’t been able to because of school. Today, I went over the list of winners and gave my peace of mind on the results.

Video of the Year:
Winner: Lil Nas X – “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”
I thought Lil Nas X definitely deserved this one. The visuals of that video were top tier. Some others on the list I thought also deserved the award were Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat and SZA, and The Weeknd.

Artist of the Year:
Winner: Justin Bieber
This one was definitely a shocker. My initial prediction was that Olivia Rodrigo was taking the award as she has had an incredible year after debuting with Drivers License. It was quite a shocker that Bieber took this as I haven’t heard much from him this year, but maybe it was just me.

Song of the Year:
Winner: Olivia Rodrigo – “Drivers License”
It’s no surprise that Olivia took this award home, remembering how Drivers License could be heard in all corners of the world earlier this year. Besides Olivia, I thought Dua Lipa’s Levitating and Cardi B’s WAP ft. Megan Thee Stallion
were also worthy opponents.

There were many more awards given out during the night, but these three I thought were the most iconic and important to talk about. Who did you think deserved Video of The Year?
