According to Merriam-Webster, Catcalls are loud, sexually suggestive calls or comments directed at someone publicly (as on the street.) Such acts happen too often in NYC, targeting gender, sexual orientation, and race. Articles surrounding catcalls are published daily but are not recognized as serious harassment towards women.

However, Catcalls in NYC have taken a stand. With chalk and stories, Catcalls of NYC provides a place for people to share their stories and experiences. See Catcall's latest event held at Astor Place, which is a block in NoHo East village. In the lower part of NYC, you’ll see the streets decorated with colorful chalk, calling out all the heartwrenching experiences minorities have had to face.
