After three years and a summer of waiting, Lorde finally released her third studio album, Solar Power. In her last two albums, Lorde proved herself with her meticulous songwriting that always told interesting stories and gave us the privilege to feel what she felt.
This week, luck is in store for us as Lorde provided us with another album of 12 tracks to pour our feelings out to. Here was my reaction after finally being able to listen to the album.

Review:
Track One: The Path

As we wave goodbye to the warmth that Melodrama used to bring during cold times, we wave hello to the warmth from Solar Power. The Path perfectly introduces the new era as it washed away any remnants of Melodrama with its solar-powered tide. This track’s energy, production, and attitude towards the future showcase a Lorde that sounds more mature since her last
album and intrigues the audience for a
new story.
Track Five: Fallen Fruit
To me, this track brings light to the first trace of sadness in the album, still, with a touch of a brighter production. The transition towards the end of the song reminded me of tracks from Melodrama where Lorde would have a sudden transition to a different production.
Track Six: Secrets From a Girl (Who’s Seen It All)

How personal the track felt to me was the biggest reason why I loved it so much. It felt like I was having a full-on conversation with Lorde and listening to the advice she has to offer from what she experienced in the three years away.
Track Eight: Dominoes
Though all of the tracks are different, one common genetic trait that binds them to be family is how they all felt nostalgic while listening to and how safe they made me feel. It honestly felt like a cleansing experience, washing away all of the negative energy.

Track Eleven: Mood Ring
Served as the third single from Solar Power, I chose to not listen to the song as I waited for the album release. After the initial listen, I completely understood why Lorde made the decision to release the song to the public. It was an experience, to say the least.
Track Twelve: Oceanic Feeling
Listening at first, I had doubts of whether this song should truly serve as the closer of the album, which should leave the audience feeling some sort of way. However, as the song played on, I soon took back my doubts and understood what the song was saying. It was a great way to leave wonders and worries for the future, while at the same time keep the audience thinking, just as it had me doing where I’ll be in five years.

While it is melodramatically sad as we’ll most likely have to wait years until we can witness another Lorde album, I’ll be headphones on, reflecting from Oceanic Feeling, pondering where life leads me. But I’m sure wherever I am, there will be a Lorde record.
